the churches and little churches in this country are true miracle bags! not only their exterior and interior structural design are of an unbelievable richness, but also their maintenance and use. time and again, the freedom and imagination with which the congregation and other interested parties try to make the best of the often difficult circumstances are surprising. no matter what condition the houses of the fading faith are in, they testify to a longing for a life beyond commercial and self-interest, for beauty and silence. some can and will be rediscovered!

the pictures were taken in 2021 on extensive journeys of discovery with the help of a scholarship from the state of saxony-anhalt. 13 of them appeared in a now out-of-print wall calendar for 2022 in a very small edition.
